Mercator

Oostende

The Mercator, a beautiful three-master tall ship from 1932, can be found in the marina of Ostend. Designed by the polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache as a training ship for the merchant fleet, this ship is a protected monument and undoubtedly the most famous ship in Belgium.
On the ninth voyage (1935-1936), the Mercator returned the remains of Father Damien.

With no less than 41 voyages to her name, the Mercator has been a museum ship in Ostend since 1964.
On board you can discover the rich history of this three-master, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
